Our partners have a rich set of experiences, including: Mary Baker Anderson has held a variety of leadership positions in early stage and rapidly growing technology and software companies. With a deep subject matter expertise in finance, Mary has raised almost a half a billion dollars in equity. She also is experienced in business processes that scale effectively with business requirements and resources. Mary is currently the Managing Partner of Calipa Partners, focused on emerging growth companies. Prior to founding Calipa Partners, Mary was the Chief Executive Officer of ThinkShare Corporation, a mobile enterprise application software company with a focus on field service automation. Before joining the ThinkShare team, Mary was the CFO then VP Finance for Homegrocer.com, from early stage through the company's IPO. Mary also served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CyberSafe, an enterprise network security software company. Mary was also the Vice President of Finance at McCaw Cellular/AT&T Wireless, and the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Business Operations for the Wireless Data Group. While there she was also the President of the Working Board of the CDPD Forum during this formative phase of the wireless data industry. Before joining McCaw, she held various management positions at Seafirst Bank/BankAmerica, most recently as Senior Vice President. Mary currently serves on the board of directors or advisors for several early stage companies. She also is a University of Washington MBA Mentor and a coach for several entrepreneurial forums. Mary holds a B.S. in Management from Purdue University, an M.B.A. from the University of Washington and is a CPA - Inactive status. Leslie Deitz Kaplan has over 20 years of experience working with companies from early stage to profitability in the software and biotechnology sectors. She has held various finance and operations roles and has helped lead IPO?s, rights offerings, and public and private equity offerings. Currently, Leslie is CFO at Cozi Group, Inc. , a software company dedicated to providing solutions for busy families. Prior to joining Cozi she was Chief Financial Officer and COO for biotech startup Primal Inc. At Visio, Leslie held the positions of Director of Finance, Treasurer and Director of Investor Relations. Prior to Visio, Leslie was Director of Finance and Treasurer at ICOS Corp. where she built the finance and administrative departments. Leslie also worked in finance at Bristol Myers Squibb Inc. in NYC where she held assignments in various divisions and departments within the Company. An assignment at Genetic Systems Inc. in Seattle led to a permanent position where Leslie held the position of Manager of Financial Analysis in addition to interim positions in cost accounting and general accounting. Leslie holds a B.A. degree from the University of Maryland and holds an MBA degree with an emphasis in finance from Cornell University. Michel Girard brings over 18 years of experience in the high tech industry in a variety of roles. Product marketing and product development have been at the core of his career. Michel has spent over 12 years at Microsoft in various capacities from product planning, program management and product marketing, most notably as the lead product planner for the Microsoft Small Business Server. While at Microsoft, Michel launched several version 1.0 products where we was responsible for worldwide projections. Michel took his analytical discipline from Microsoft to a start-up wireless data software app company, ThinkShare where he was the Vice President of Marketing. But as in many early stage companies he was also very involved in the financial models and integral in the successful funding of the company. Subsequently, Michel worked as a senior managing partner for the advertising agency, BBFM, Inc. During his tenure at BBFM, Michel reduced employee turnover from 75% to under 10%, and grew revenue 45% year over year while maintaining a strong net margin. Additionally, Michel was responsible for developing the financial models as well as a suite of day to day financial management tools. For the past year Michel has been working as a financial/analytical modeler predominantly on assignments for Microsoft. Kristin Martinez has spent more than a decade working with new ventures--as an investor, advisor, lender and entrepreneur. She founded Sound Point Ventures, LLC, in 1998 to provide private equity services and innovations. Sound Point created and manages Angels with Attitude, an "active angel" venture fund formed in 2000 to make early stage investments in sustainability. Kristin was a co-founder of New Vantage Partners, LLC, a private equity investment advisory firm in the Mid-Atlantic. Kristin also spent 8 years in the energy industry, most recently as COO and Treasurer of startup Pepco Energy Services, Inc. She managed supplier and vendor relationships, external financing, and new technology investments. Kristin is a Director of TraceDetect, MACH Energy, Precision Farming Enterprises, Inc., and a board observer of TeachFirst. Kristin holds a BS from Boston University and an MBA in Finance and Investments from The George Washington University. |
